A VERY SHORT HISTORY OF GINO'S EAST

In 1966 two Chicago cab drivers, Sam Levine and Fred Bartoli, became disgusted with the rush hour traffic and decided to quit hacking around.  With the help of George Laverde, they went into the restaurant business.  From the humble beginning on Superior St., pizza history was made and Gino's East became Chicago's most celebrated pizza.  At last count, 847 other Chicago cab drivers have also tried to open restaurants....
